Youth Guidance Program
We welcome guests of all ages to PROVIDENCE PLACE; however, Providence Place has instituted a Youth Guidance Program for youth under the age of 18.
POLICY IN EFFECT:
UNDERAGED GUESTS
Youths under the age of 18 are required to be accompanied by and always remain with a parent or supervising adult aged 21 or over after 5:00 PM daily.
Proof of age will be required by the youth and supervising adult. Those who are unaccompanied or fail to produce proper identification will be asked to leave the property.
Identification must include a photograph, date of birth and be tamper proof. Valid identification includes a state issued driver's license or ID card, a military ID, a school ID card or a passport.
A supervising adult aged 21 or over may accompany up to four (4) youths. A supervising adult must always remain with youths and are responsible for the actions of the youths they accompany.
If a youth is banned from Providence Place, the supervising adult will also be banned for the same period of time as the youth.
This policy will specifically apply to the shopping center’s common areas. Please check with stores, restaurants, and retailers regarding their individual policies.
The policy includes the walkways and any corridors leading to the shopping center. In addition, unsupervised shoppers 17 and under will not be permitted to congregate in the shopping center parking lot.
Youth Guidance Program Q&A
Why is Providence Place implementing a Youth Guidance Program?
Like many shopping centers across the country, we have experienced an increase in disruptive behavior that violates Providence Place’s code of conduct by a small minority of younger visitors. By taking this extra step in our security measures we hope to ensure a pleasant environment for our guests, as well as our retail partners.
How will the mall be enforcing the new Youth Guidance Program?
Police officers and security officers will be located within various points of Providence Place to check IDs (a state issued driver’s license or ID card, a military ID, a school ID card, or a passport), and those who cannot provide identification will be required to have an adult chaperone. One adult aged 21 or older can accompany up to four youths.
What happens to underage visitors who are dropped off, but without a parent or supervising adult? Are they denied entry? What do you do if they don’t have a way to leave the property?
Visitors aged 17 and under without a parent or supervising adult 21 years or older will not be allowed access to the center and must contact their parent/guardian to either pick them up or accompany the minor during their visit at the center. A waiting zone has been established for those waiting to be picked up and is located in the vestibule between P.F. Chang’s and Panera Bread, facing Francis Street.
Is the Youth Guidance Program in effect just for the inside of the shopping center, or on the entire property?
The Youth Guidance Program is in effect for the entire property including the interior and exterior of the center.
Is the Youth Guidance Program in effect for the restaurants, department stores and the movie theater?
The Youth Guidance Program will be in effect for the common areas of the property. Restaurants and retail stores with exterior access may have policies which vary; therefore guests should contact them directly for additional information. Guests entering the common area of the property from the movie theater, restaurants, and department stores will be checked to ensure that the Youth Guidance Program is being followed.
How long will this policy be in effect?
This policy will remain in effect indefinitely.
What will happen to those who are under 18 at 5:00 pm who enter the shopping center earlier in the day?
Anyone in the common areas of the shopping center under the age of 18 without a parent or supervising adult 21 years or older after 5:00 pm will be asked to contact their parent/guardian to either pick them up or accompany them during the remainder of their visit at the property.
A waiting zone has been established for those waiting to be picked up and is located in the vestibule between P. F. Chang’s and Panera Bread facing Francis Street. Please also review the center’s Code of Conduct related to underaged guests during school hours.
